Foodealz
An app that provides access for restaurants, bakeries and grocery stores to sell unsold/surplus dishes from 70% cheaper.
The beginning & the opportunity
According to UNEP (UN environment program), about one-third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year – approximately 1.3 billion tonnes – gets lost or wasted. As a matter of fact, while studying in the US and Canada, Iskander El Amri and Rim Elfahem noticed the huge waste of food in restaurants.
This problem is not only specific to the US and Canada but it is also very common in Africa, a continent that has the highest rates of hunger globally. The irony is real.
This is why we decided to launch Foodealz a startup that tends to solve the issue of food waste. With the continuous expansion to corporate partners in the food industry, the company grows while cutting down food waste and fighting hunger.
The challenge
Our main challenge is changing the consumer’s perspective to leftover food. It’s not food that should end up in the garbage and we want to campaign to change what the world thinks of this food and why it’s worth buying it.
